When you think of Social Media your mind probably starts piling up on negative thoughts.  Well, if it’s so bad, why do we have it?  Well, I don’t know but I’m here today to tell you some reasons how Social Media effects your health.
First off, it can lead to jealousy.  Jealousy is when someone thinks that someone else is better than them in some way, people might do horrible thinks in order to become better than them.  For example, someone is posting pictures online of their tropical vacations.  Now, a lot of people had admit to becoming jealous over these kind of things. But the person might not have money that the other person has to go on any vacation.   People can get jealous over how someone looks, how they dress, how wealthy they are, much they have that someone else doesn’t, etc.
Social Media can also lead to Addiction. Addiction of social media itself can lead to a lack of sleep, social withdraw and eye strain.  When you carry around your cell phone, or any device… with your phone ringing a bell anytime someone contacts you on social media. Social Media becomes hard to escape.  Social Media Addiction is actually becoming common Facebook users.  People have done research on this, we found out that at least 63% log on to Facebook on a daily basis, the 40% log on to it multiple times each day.  When people want to relax most of us will turn right to social media. For people that have a social media addiction, sitting down and going on social media is what they call relaxing. .  But at the same time some people that aren’t addicted will struggle to relax because the thought of social media.  That shows a lot, that shows how much of an impact social media has on us.
Social Media has put people in depression.  Depression can be caused by cyberbullying.  95% of teenagers on social media have witnessed cyberbullying happen and 33% have been victims themselves. That is a lot, but people have also said that this will never go away.
